Autism FAQs
Please see below some useful FAQs. If you have further questions please do not hesitate in contacting us.

Q: What profile do I have to fit to be considered for autistic care?

A: There’s no single profile that our autistic service users fit. We assess every potential service user on an individual basis to see if Clearwater Care’s autistic service is right for them.

Q: Will I get to go out into the local community regularly?

A: Clearwater Care believes that it’s really important to keep its autistic service users involved in their local community. Many volunteer at their local charity shops or go to college. Most of them get involved in community-based activities during the week as well.

Q: I have specific dietary requirements. Will Clearwater Care be able to accommodate them?

A: We always talk through individual service users’ menu plans with them so that they get the food that meets any dietary requirements that they may have.

Q: Can my friends and family come and visit me?

A: Of course they can! All we ask is that they let us know in advance that they want to visit so that we can advise them on the best time to pop around. You wouldn’t want them to come around when you’re out at your swimming lesson, would you?

Q: Will I have a say in how I’m cared for?

A: Yes you will. We always sit down and discuss care plans with individual service users so that they can let us know exactly what they want and need from their care plan.

Q: How many other people will I be living with?

A: We like to keep a small, family atmosphere in our homes. Our largest home has 16 beds and our smallest home has 4 beds.

Q: Will I have access to advocacy services?

A: Each Clearwater Care service user has access to advocacy services, should they need it. We have strong links with local advocacy groups and services.

Q: Will I have to share a bedroom with somebody else?

A: Not at all. Each service user is given their own bedroom, which we encourage them to personalise so that they feel as comfortable as possible when spending time there
